How do I get MT to translate the CC message (0-127) from the controller (or would you send a different type of midi message) to any parameter on the VG?

Until now, I've always ignored the Midi Implementation pages of equipment I've owned in the past but I want gain a better understanding.įor example In the Midi Implementation Manual for the VG-88 Delay Parameters it reads As an experimental Guitarist I would like to get to the guts of the VG-88 (approximately 90 or so controls via the 4 pages of buttons and encoders on the BCR) This entry was posted in Behringer BCR2000, Gear on 2 by MacroDX.I've got a problem that's been eating my at my brain.įirst of all, I own a Behringer BCR2000 and a Roland VG-88.
If you want more information on the SysEx capabilities of the BCR, check out the resources and links on the Mountain Utilities BCR/BCF page, too.
It needs a while to get used to the interface, but you can edit and control every aspect of the device with it, send and receive data and manage multiple devices. For proper setup however there is a perfect tool out there called BC Manager. If the SysEx message is simple, the BCR will perfectly recognize it. You can always use the learn function to assign a SysEx message to a control.

The BCR2000 is perfectly capable of that, but you have to know how to set it up. But they are equally ideal to control those 80’s to 90’s digital synths, which lack hardware controls but provide parameter setting via SysEx messages. I guess nowadays such controllers are mostly intended for use with software, to control DAWs and plugins. The BCR2000 SysEx capabilities are hardly covered by the official documentations and tools.
